Hospitals for Humanity (HFH) is a US-based 501(c)3 and registered Nigerian NGO with a mission to maximize positive health outcomes and decrease barriers to healthcare, particularly for those in resource-constrained environments.

We focus on providing free open-heart surgery to children in Africa through various medical initiatives and health system development projects. Our African branch of HFH is registered as an NGO in Lagos, Nigeria.

We follow a five-step collaborative model for our international initiatives:

  1. Identification of Local Leaders: We identify local leaders to facilitate both short-term and long-term program outcomes and sustainability.
  2. Health Care Needs Assessment: We complete an initial health care needs assessment for the targeted community.
  3. Coordination of Medical Initiatives: We coordinate medical initiative teams from global partners to perform triage, address crisis care, and train local medical personnel.
  4. Addressing Pre-existing Conditions: We identify pre-existing conditions and/or chronic health care needs in the targeted region.
  5. Tailored Programs: We introduce programs tailored to meet the special needs of the community, such as ophthalmology, infectious disease control, and cardiothoracic surgery.

We have undertaken various time-limited medical initiatives in Nigeria, Senegal, Haiti, Afghanistan, and the Philippines, including cardiothoracic surgery, ophthalmology procedures, hernia and breast cancer surgeries, Ebola training for medical personnel, and diabetes/hypertension education and treatment.
