About

  • Nicaragua

In the northeast region of Nicaragua, communities are very rural and spread out, making a trip to a health clinic a serious challenge for the majority of people who have to travel on foot, sometimes for days. Bridges to Community brings health brigades made up of American doctors who specialize in family practice, ER, general practitioners, pediatricians/adolescent care etc. to these communities. Often they work closely with Nicaraguan doctors. While there, they host primary healthcare clinics – lasting one week – that see up to 50 patients a day, currently benefitting over 2,750 Nicaraguans annually. They stay in nice basic lodgings in the nearby small city, Siuna.
